Suessville.com is an absolute delight to look through. It’s full of animtions and clever ways to learn a bit more about the author, his books and his creativity. Each individual page is set up like its own animated tale with the links corresponding to the animations that go with it. For example, the link “timeline” is also connected to a “seuss-i-fied” clock on the wall. To get to a biography you can click on his framed picture sitting on a table and his sketch gallery is linked to a book sitting on a shelf. It’s brilliant!
The website has links to Dr Suess’ characters, latest news, books, author information, other websites and activities. Of particular interest are the sections dedicated to teachers and parents. The teacher resources are filled with activities, events, newsletters and ideas, and the parent section helps parents find the right age appropriate book for their child. There are also fun games, where you can earn “Dooklas”, and you can even create your own Who!
I could go on and on, but, in short, the website is a lot of fun to explore and is filled with valuable ideas, activities and tools. I highly suggest that everyone have a look, however make sure you have a bit of time on your hands before diving in, as it’s easy to spend hours just exploring the different links.
Here is the link to the homepage. Thing 1 and Thing 2 will guide your exploration as they navigate the website with a Cat in the Hat clock. Enjoy!
